Treating the symptom
Any competent crew can remove visible growth. If the moisture that fed it is still there — a slow supply leak, a failed window seal, a roof penetration, condensation on cold lines in a humid wall — it returns, usually within months and often in the same spot. The remediation was not wrong; it was incomplete.
What proper remediation involves
- Containment before disturbance, so removal does not spread spores through the house.
- Negative air pressure in the work area with filtration.
- Finding and fixing the moisture source, not just the growth.
- Removing porous materials that cannot be cleaned, rather than surface-treating them.
- Post-remediation verification by somebody independent.
How we handle it
- 01Assess the extent, including inside wall cavities where it is invisible.
- 02Identify the moisture source before scoping the removal.
- 03Contain and set negative pressure before disturbing anything.
- 04Remove non-salvageable porous materials; clean what can be cleaned.
- 05Fix the source as part of the same job — that is the GC part.
- 06Independent clearance testing, not our own sign-off.
Florida licenses mould assessors and mould remediators separately, and for good reason: the person who says how much there is should not be the person paid to remove it. We will not do both on the same job, and you should be wary of anyone who offers to.

FAQ
Common questions
- Can I clean it myself?
- A small surface patch on a hard surface, often yes. Anything inside a wall or across a large area needs containment, or you spread it through the house.
- Does bleach work?
- On hard non-porous surfaces it can. On porous material it treats the surface and leaves what is inside, which is why porous material is removed instead.
- Is mould covered by insurance?
- Often limited, and frequently excluded where it results from long-term seepage rather than a sudden covered event. Read your policy.
- Who does the clearance test?
- An independent assessor. We will not test our own work, and neither should anyone else.
