Before you call anyone
- Stop the source — water off at the main, or tarp the opening.
- Photograph everything before anything is moved or cleared.
- Keep receipts for tarps, hotels and generators. They are often reimbursable.
- Do not sign an assignment of benefits on your doorstep.
- Do not accept an offer to cover your deductible. That is fraud in Florida.
