Drying the House Is Days. Rebuilding It Is Months.
Most restoration companies dry your house and hand you off to find a builder. That handoff is where the schedule dies and where nobody owns the outcome. We are a general contractor, so mitigation and rebuild are one contract.
Photographs, moisture readings and a written scope. If you should not file a claim, that is what you will be told.
Four places account for most South Florida roof leaks. None of them is the middle of the roof.

What we restore
What we restore
Six kinds of damage. Each page says when a claim is worth filing and when it is not.
Water Damage
A burst supply line, a failed water heater, a supply hose behind a washing machine. The water itself rarely destroys much. What destroys things is how long it sits.

Storm Damage
After a named storm, everything happens at once: the house is open, every contractor is booked, and unfamiliar crews are knocking on doors.

Mould Remediation
Mould is not the problem. Mould is evidence of a moisture problem, and remediation that does not find the source is a cosmetic exercise with a schedule.

Fire & Smoke Damage
In most house fires the flames damage one area and the smoke and the firefighting water damage everything else. The restoration is mostly about those two.

Sewage & Contaminated Water
Water is classified by what is in it, and the category changes the job completely. Category 3 — sewage, ground water intrusion, flood water — is grossly contaminated.

Reconstruction
Drying a house takes days. Rebuilding it takes months, and it is where restoration projects most often stall — because the company that dried it is not a builder.

Your situation
Your situation
The same water is a different problem for a homeowner, a landlord and a condo board.
Homeowners
The complication for an owner-occupier is that the house has to keep functioning while it is being repaired, and that shapes every scheduling decision.

Landlords & Rentals
A rental adds two things a homeowner does not have: a tenant with legal rights, and a policy that may cover lost rent.

Condo Associations
In a condominium the hardest question is not how to dry it. It is whose it is.

Businesses & Commercial
For a business the repair cost is usually the smaller number. Being closed is the larger one, and the work should be planned around that.

Seasonal & Absentee Owners
The worst water damage we see is not dramatic. It is a small supply leak in an empty house that ran for months, and it is the hardest category to get paid for.

The difference
How we differ from the rest of this trade
We will not ask you to sign an assignment of benefits
An AOB hands your claim rights to a contractor. Some firms present one within minutes of arriving at a flooded house. We do not use them, and if anyone asks you to sign one while you are still shaken, that is the moment to stop and read it in daylight.
Mitigation and rebuild under one contract
The usual pattern is one company dries the house and hands you off to find a builder. That handoff is where months disappear and where nobody owns the outcome. We do both.
We will tell you not to file
If the damage sits below your deductible, or it is wear rather than a sudden covered event, filing costs you and recovers nothing — and a denial still sits on your loss history. That conversation happens before you call the carrier.
Documentation you own, not documentation we hold
Photographs, moisture readings and scope go to you as well as to the adjuster. If we and you ever part company mid-claim, you keep everything needed to carry on.

Photographs, moisture readings and a written scope. If the damage is below your deductible or reads as wear rather than a covered event, that is what you will be told.
We do not use assignments of benefits, and we will not ask you to sign one.
FAQ
Common questions
- How fast do I need to act on water?
- Hours. In Florida heat, clean water becomes a mould problem in roughly 24 to 48 hours.
- Should I open the windows to dry it out?
- No, for most of the year here. You would be adding humid air to a space you are trying to dehumidify.
- Will you ask me to sign an assignment of benefits?
- No. We do not use them. If anyone asks you to sign one on your doorstep, read it in daylight first.
- How long do I have to file a claim?
- One year from the date of loss for a new or reopened claim, eighteen months for a supplemental. Both were shortened in 2022.
- Will you tell me not to file?
- Yes, when that is the honest answer. A denied claim still sits on your loss history.
- Do you do the rebuild as well as the drying?
- Yes, under one contract. That handoff is where most restoration projects stall.
- Someone offered to cover my deductible.
- That is insurance fraud in Florida and accepting it makes you a party to it. Walk away.
- Do you negotiate with the adjuster?
- No. We are contractors, not public adjusters — a separate licensed role in Florida. We provide scope and documentation.

No showroom, and that is deliberate
Romco is a service-area contractor. There is no trade counter to visit, because the work happens at your building rather than at ours.
Outside the immediate Broward and Palm Beach corridor we work through established local trade partners and manage the project ourselves. You deal with one point of accountability either way — the crew on site changes, the person answering for the job does not.
For anything urgent, call(954) 807-3208 rather than using the form. We would rather look at it than quote it blind.

Find out what is actually wrong with it.
An inspection, photographs of what we found, and a written scope. If the honest answer is that it can wait another season, that is the answer you will get.
